Does TAP Portugal have online check-in?

Yes, TAP Portugal's Online Check-in allows you to check-in up to 24 hours before your flight departs. All you need is an internet connection and a printer!

What are the requirements for using Online Check-in?

  • Check-in 90 minutes to 24 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. (Except for Luanda, where you can check-in online 5-24 hours prior to your flight's departure.)
  • For passengers holders of electronic ticket with confirmed reservations on flights operated by TAP or Portugalia.
  • You are not a special needs passenger (i.e. unaccompanied minor).
  • This service is not available to passengers on resident or student ticket tariffs (from the Azorian Islands).
  • If you haven't indicated your Victoria Number on your reservation and wish to credit your miles, please keep your boarding passes.
  • If you have been asked to confirm your credit card details in person at a TAP ticket desk or during your check-in, you will not be able to check-in online.
  • Online check-in is available for departures from the following countries to the entire TAP network (except for the USA):
    • Angola (Luanda) - only available from 24 hours in advance and up to 5 hours prior to your flight's departure)
    • Belgium (Brussels)
    • Brazil (Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Sao Paulo) - When traveling with or without baggage you MUST proceed to the TAP Executive class ticket desk so the boarding fee seal can be affixed to your Boarding Card without which you will not be allowed access to your boarding gate. In Rio de Janeiro, please go to Counter number 35.
    • Croatia (Zagreb) - For this city of departure, you will be directed to our partner Swissport in order to do your online check-in.

    • France (Paris, Charles de Gaulle; Paris, Orly)
    • Germany (Frankfurt; Munich; Hamburg) - For these cities of departure, you will be directed to TAP Portugal's Star Alliance partner, Lufthansa, in order to do your online check-in.     • Guinea-Bissau (Bissau)
    • Hungary (Budapest) - For this city of departure, you will be directed to TAP Portugal's Star Alliance partner, Lufthansa, in order to do your online check-in. If you wish to contact TAP, please go to TAP's check-in counter at the departure airport.
    • Italy (Rome; Milan, Linate; Milan, Malpensa; Bologna; Venice)
    • Morocco (Casablanca) - When traveling with or without baggage you MUST proceed to the tap|executive desk, in order to obtain the Boarding Card without which you will not be allowed access to your boarding gate.
    • Mozambique (Maputo)
    • Netherlands (Amsterdam)
    • Norway (Oslo)
    • Portugal (Lisbon, Faro, Funchal, Horta, Pico, Ponta Delgada, Oporto, Porto Santo, Terceira) - From these cities of departure, you will be directed to TAP Portugal's Star Alliance partner, Lufthansa, in order to do your online check-in.     • South Africa (Johannesburg) - When traveling with or without baggage you MUST proceed to the tap|executive desk, in order to obtain the Boarding Card without which you will not be allowed access to your boarding gate.
    • Spain (Madrid, Barcelona)

Make sure you leave enough time at the airport to get through security, check your bags etc.

Can I use Online Check-in if I have bags to check?

Yes, you will be able to print your boarding pass at home but will have to drop your bags at a TAP Portugal check-in counter (see above for full list of exceptions) at the airport before the cut-off time.

Can I change/select my seat with Online Check-in?

Yes, when you use Online Check-in you can select your seat or change a previously made selection.

If I plan to check in at the airport, how much time should I allot?

If you have no baggage, there is no need to arrive at the airport at the advance time stipulated as you have already checked in and have your boarding pass. You should, however, ensure you have sufficient time available in which to present yourself at the boarding gate at the time indicated.

If traveling with baggage, be sure to check the baggage delivery time limit for your flight.
